My wife and I recently purchased a 2016 Chevy Trax 7 months ago. It has about 8,000 miles on it and is used primarily to get to and from a 10 minute work commute. Over the holiday we were about 8 hours away from home returning from North Carolina when our check engine light and malfunction indicator lights came on. Multiple times, the car's RPMs went up around 6-7 on the meter and the car entered a mode where we could really accelerate past 25 MPH.
We were fortunate to get it to the Mt. Airy Chevrolet dealership (still in NC) and after looking at it for a day and originally finding nothing wrong they discovered it was the "non-return valve" needed replaced, which they did. Vehicle was recently towed back to us and has been running okay every since.
With 8+ hour trip coming up, are we safe to use this vehicle again without fear of breaking down? Is there anything we need to do differently maintenance-wise to assure it won't happen again and is this a common occurrence with this vehicle?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
