Question 2017 Trax AWD LT Transmission dead at 49,000

Took car in for steering control arm recall. They repaired. 5 miles later on the way home the transmission stopped and was grinding. It's been in shop for almost 6 weeks waiting for parts. Coincidence? Is trans connected or related to steering control arm????

Control arm is connected to the hub assembly, hub assembly connects to CV Axle, CV Axle connects to transmission.
