Front license plate

New-Brunswick has recently done away with the front license plate. (Not in favor) But it is what it is.
I don't want to remove the bracket because of the 2 holes it will leave in the front bumper. So Until I can find a suitable decorative plate for the front I decided to make my own. Had some old stainless steel laying around so why not.

I cut a piece the size of a plate.

Then scuffed it and primed it and put on a first coat.

Second and third coat.

Then masked it

Masked it again

And finally the last coat of paint. Just needs clear coat now.

I will now go clear it. I will take a picture once on the Trax.

Funny how what is black on the car appears grey and what is grey appears black. I will wait until the paint cures and swap the 2 bottom colors.

Swapped colors...

Different angle. The plate being flat doesn't reflect the sun the same way.

I could make the bottom bar narrower.

I think it looks great, maybe a coat or two of glossy clear will help mask the flatness of the paint.

The orange has 3 coats of clear. The problem is I would have to bend the plate in the middle to follow the contour of the bumper so that the sun hits it at the same angle.

Look better than just a plate frame for sure.
