I didn't end up taking it to the dealer. It took some doing, but I was able to get an open-ended wrench on the bolt that holds the seat belt to the body, and removed the bolt. The seat functions perfectly, but can't carry a 3rd rear passenger in that center spot, since the belt isn't available for them.
I would almost never have more than 3 others in the vehicle at once, so I'm not too worried about it being a 4-seater. Just sounds like even the replacements are garbage, so why go through the trouble?

5457 I took it to the dealer today. 1 1/2 hours later they told me it's the (same seldom used) belt again. Special order... be in next week.

5457 Same seat, same problem. Forgot to latch the belt before putting the seat down. No amount of pulling straps, or jumping on the seat will release it. It was replaced 14 months ago.

beeguz If the seat is stuck if you can just remove the 2 bolts that hold down the rear seat, I took mine out so the seat backs would fold flat.

Josephdagwan I had the same problem with my 2015 trax, took it in and the dealer took the seat back apart and replaced the seatbelt mechanism. However, it has happened again and I found that while the belt is jammed and won't release try pulling on the bottom seat strap release,it worked for me.While waiting for an inspection sticker at my local garage/gas station the mechanic came to me to tell me that the belt wasn't releasing,I pulled on the strap and it released immediately.

Ysandro Villalba Wow, I recall receiving one of those letters the year of purchase. I'll make sure to follow your instructions on that folding issue, since I do it quite often now for one reason or another!

5457 I needed an oil change anyway so I took it in. The Chevy dealer couldn't get it unstuck, they ordered a new seat belt and I have to take it back Friday. There's a TSB on this... TSB #16-NA-016 - Rear 60% Seatback Locked in Down Position When Folded, Will Not Return to Upright Position. This is a somewhat common problem on other cars too. A tip: Before you fold down the LR seat, buckle the middle belt so it won't lock your seat down.

beeguz You could take the bottom of the seat out, by removing 2 bolts I believe they are 13mm, then it should be easy to get at the backrest.

On my Trax I removed the bottom of the seat on the drivers side it allowed for my seat to go back a few more inches, I needed it for an easier exit.

I miss my mechanical seat power seats are a pain the mechanical seat went back in a second allowing me to get out and in easily.
