I would almost never have more than 3 others in the vehicle at once, so I'm not too worried about it being a 4-seater. Just sounds like even the replacements are garbage, so why go through the trouble?

|63dart||Currently having this same problem with a 2015 Trax I just bought used. Any DIY fixes, besides disabling that center seat belt and making this car a 4-seater? I don't see an obvious way of getting to that seat belt tensioner to make any adjustments or repairs.|

|5457||I needed an oil change anyway so I took it in. The Chevy dealer couldn't get it unstuck, they ordered a new seat belt and I have to take it back Friday. There's a TSB on this... TSB #16-NA-016 - Rear 60% Seatback Locked in Down Position When Folded, Will Not Return to Upright Position. This is a somewhat common problem on other cars too. A tip: Before you fold down the LR seat, buckle the middle belt so it won't lock your seat down.|

You could take the bottom of the seat out, by removing 2 bolts I believe they are 13mm, then it should be easy to get at the backrest.
On my Trax I removed the bottom of the seat on the drivers side it allowed for my seat to go back a few more inches, I needed it for an easier exit.
I miss my mechanical seat power seats are a pain the mechanical seat went back in a second allowing me to get out and in easily.
