Took car in for steering control arm recall. They repaired. 5 miles later on the way home the transmission stopped and was grinding. It's been in shop for almost 6 weeks waiting for parts. Coincidence? Is trans connected or related to steering control arm????

Control arm is connected to the hub assembly, hub assembly connects to CV Axle, CV Axle connects to transmission.

Took 2 months but done. Diagnosis: L/F axel stripped and differential carrier damaged.
Is this related to the steering control arm fix? I drove 5 miles after they did the recall repair.

Sounds like someone may have used the axle as a fulcrum with a pry bar to pop the ball joint that attached the lower control arm to the hub assembly.
