Hello!! First post here. New owner of 2015 Trax. Want to install fog lamps. I have already ordered the light switch (replacement for dash unit) and front wiring harness. Has anybody ever done this yet??? If not I'll post pics/instructions as I go along. Thanks for the help.:nerd:

Yes, please do show us the pics along the way. I've done this with other GM vehicles over the years and many have misc parts already installed. Did you order a US Trax light switch or something else? I'm betting the factory wiring harness plugs right in to fog/non fog switches.
Thanks in advance.

Good chance that's the case, GM should have made it with specific plus for the feature as it makes the manufacturing process easier.

Can I ask you what you paid for the switch and harness? Interior harness or engine compartment harness? Also could you please take a picture of the back of the switch? It would be very much appreciated if you can!

Sorry for the zillion questions, I just want to do this myself the most cost effective way I can!

Hopefully he replies but contacting the local GM/Chevy dealer could reveal the details, ring up their parts department.

Replacement is a snap. Open the door below switch. The door has two tabs on the side that push in and the door falls out. The switch is held in place with three small catches that must be depressed by sticking your hand up inside the door hole and pushing/pressing the switch out. Once out the wiring harness comes off and fits the new switch. Push new switch in and replace door. Interior DONE!

I'm really curious as to why you didn't order initially with fogs? Not trying to be combative or antagonistic, just curious really. Were they not available/not willing to wait, bundled in a package or something???

They were not available even as a stand alone option on the LS models, nor was cruise control. You had to go to a higher trim level.

If your still there, one question. I have been for weeks asking Ebay and Aliexpress dealers what the center dial does on the switch? All of them so far have referred me to a chevy dealer. Thing is they do not seem to use that style in the US. I have found out that if there are two halves on the large left dial, top half is for front fog lights and bottom is for rear fog lights. That must be a European thing foggy London and all. Hope your liking the new Trax I know I am, This will be my first AWD. If you have a minute drop a line. If I think the center dial would be of use I will do the same setup as you did. Otherwise I would use a $20.00 fog light add-on Relay Wiring Kit from Diode Dynamics. In that setup all that is needed is wiring under the hood and the switch is left as is.

Not to throw a wrench in this but we just called our dealership because we were interested in adding fog lights also and they informed us that adding them would void the warrenty. since GM does not offer the addition at this time it would be considered aftermarket. Just wanted to throw that out there incase nobody knew. :( it's their way to getting everyone to upgrade to a LT.

In the US, the Magnuson-Moss act strictly works in our favor. They could not void your warranty for adding it. The only way to deny warranty coverage is if the addition of the fog lights caused (and they would have to prove this, the burden of proof is on them) a related component to fail. Then only this component would be denied warranty, your overall warranty would still be in effect.

I'm hoping using all GM parts would make this a slam dunk.
