To owners with WiFi setup in their Trax... how are you liking it? Are you experiencing any issues? What devices are you connecting to your WiFi network? How is the Ping and Download rate?

My mistake, I thought this was available as of 2014 but it's looking to be a 2015 thing.
I have a 2014 and have never heard of this?
that's what i was thinking as i have never heard of this till now.
if it was up to me to get a 2015 model, i know that this is a feature i would get.
I think the WiFi connection is one of the big features of the Trax. The weird thing is that the driver doesn't use it really. Its all for your passengers.

Why do you think WiFi connection is one of the big features on the Trax?
mostly because it is pretty unique to have that feature on a vehicle at this price point. Most of its competitors don't have a wifi hotspot.
But something unique doesn't really translate into being one of the biggest features.

OK, but that is the reason that I have.

People are all into the electronics and internet features of cars now. Especially with a car of this size and at this price point. The people in this segment are looking for a very connected vehicle.
How do you know for sure if people in this segment are looking for a very connected vehicle?

Its not like I have some hard numbers from a survey or something like that. I am more going off of who I think is the target market for the Trax and what I think those people would like. Younger people tend to really care about the infotainment system and the Internet I read about it a bit too, but I can't find the articles to prove it to your guys.
in that case i can see that happening
younger folks = more techy
older folks = simplicity, not much tech.
not a lot of other cars in this price range would have a wireless hotspot either so I think its a big advantage.
As helpful as it is, I don't think it's something that would give it an advantage over other vehicles but it's more of a bonus if the Trax is already a vehicle you want.

I already use my 6GB Data plan while on the go, even tethering it to my laptop and other smartphone and that works out great for me.
i agree..

it's not something that gives it a huge upper hand over the other vehicles it's against, a small win.
here's a good article that goes in on the growing use and implementation of wi-fi systems in vehicles: http://www.computerworld.com/articl...y/wireless-carrier-wars-come-to-your-car.html
"Is Wi-Fi hotspot in your car that important? No. It's not. It's the icing on the cake that in some cases offers consumers an additional value add," said Thilo Koslowski, vice president of Automotive Industry Advisory Services at Gartner. "A lot of devices already come today with LTE capability, so you still have to question what the additional value add is. The additional value here is that you have an external antenna you can rely on and no battery constraints."
So yea its good but not a deal maker. The article agrees :D
a small win which matters to a small extent.
what will be more interesting is seeing how many actually use it and how many don't
I wanted to post up this article that I found today too. It talks about a Cadillac ATS, but given that it is a GM vehicle, I assume that it would have a similar system to the Trax.

"The question remains though, is it any good? To find out I borrowed a 2015 Cadillac ATS Coupe with GM’s Onstar 4GLTE loaded up and ready to rock. My goal was to test the car in a variety of situations to see if car-based WiFi is a novelty or robust enough for real use. Follow the adventure by revisiting this post several times today as it will constantly be updated with results and my findings."

Check it out for a detailed review of the pros and cons of a in-vehicle wifi system.

Good read especially on a vehicle that is actually out there with the feature, with that it might be worth it to take a look at a forum on the ATS, see what owners are saying.
