For those who are interested, finally here's the engine air filter replacement from the KN Brand.


In the KN website, you will not find the TRAX or Buick Encore Air Filter (both uses the same filter), but the Vauxhall Opel Mokka yes, that uses the same air filter.

I've always been a bit leary of 'high-flow' filters. I always question what in the name of filtering was sacrificed for flow... I'v heard that K and N's can be a bit more porous then optimal. Mind you that was from the motorcycle community...

The owners manual will state it.
But depending on where you live, if you happen to pass by a lot of construction zones, then you may have to change it earlier than what they book says.

Just to add more information:


- The filter can last up to 200,000 Km!
- The KN Cleaning Kit that can be used are 99-5000 or 99-5050
- Both the filter and the cleaning kit can be found in Amazon also.

What about the factory air filter how long does that last before it needs changing? Was it time for you to change your filter or did you just want to upgrade your filter for personal reasons?

Not bad at all, that's a crazy interval for changing the filter but of course regular cleaning and maintenance is required

Called the number from that :Canadian: web site goes directly to California in the USA. All filters are shipped and paid for according to USA. Therefore add exchange, duty and possible brockerage (extra costs) if from Canada. Might be better buying locally ? Also, they confirmed, buying the above filter might fit but, not as they want it too. Any issues and you were using this filter for a Trax and no warranty is offered at all. We need to wait until they offer a filter specifically for the Trax for them to stand behind their filter. Might be the same filter in the end, who knows ? Just relaying the message to all.

Hi. The Factory one it's suggested to be changed each time you do a maintenance. Because of the costs, both has the same price, but the KN last more! Does it make sense?

IMO, checking the filter to see how dirty it is will give a more accurate understanding of when it will be in need of changing, not sure if every maintenance interval might be needed but i could be wrong.

Agree. It depends where you live! Mine it's warm, hot and dusty!

I bought a number of those filters they never lived up to any of their claims.

I never saw an increase in MPG or performance, so I only buy inexpensive Purolator air filters.

But at $30 plus a crack for a Fram paper filters at Canadian Tire, the $76 K&N ( on our Journey) actually pays for itself after 2 changes. But, I agree, not sure on any off the get go standout noticeable gains ? Maybe we are wrong, anyone have other data than the manufacturer published claims ?

can you hear the turbo spool up with the K&N more or does it sound the same as the standard one?
Trying to decide to get the K&N Standard replacement one or get the K&N intake kit

The car will sound the same because you are using the stock air filter housing.

If you want the sound of air going into your engine you need to buy an open filter.
