My Check engine light came on on the way home from work. called OnStar and had them run a diagnostic came back P00EC. Not having much luck finding out just what this is for my Trax.

taking it to the dealer tomorrow, but I would like to know a little bit about what this may be.

"P" stands for Powertrain. I have never seen a powertrain code that ended in EC usually P followed by 4 numerical digits. Are you sure you copied that right?

yep that is directly from OnStar's email to me

seems to be a generic error code... I found multiple descriptions for different things on the net.

I am taking it to the Dealer tomorrow... I have only had it since Black Friday.... As long as they are not going to charge me to check it out.

If not I will clear the code myself...

Probably a gross leak code like: P0455 Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (gross leak)

wow . the answers on here.. not one of these guys is a mechanic.. when I saw this I had to join this so I could add to it. P00EC is a boost air temp sensor located on the intercooler pipe directly below the coolant overflow tank.. it is a 52$ part at chevy dealer. can just reach down and take it out with a Phillips screw driver. it will be that and only that part.. 20yr plus master tech here..
