Engine Power Reduced by Computer

Ok well my wife's new Trax had a major issue the other day and is now sitting on the dealer lot awaiting diagnosis and repair. She has the AWD LS.

The check engine light came on 2 weeks ago and I played with the gas cap and it went away. Then the other day she starts driving and she all of a sudden can't go faster than 5 MPH. I understand it's the car going into "limp home mode." She got the following failure lights, 84(engine power reduced), the traction control light came on, the check engine light, the engine reduced power light and the service car soon light (car with a wrench inside).

I know these cars are new but has anyone else experienced this? What was the diagnosis? I'll post the outcome on my end, when the dealer finally looks at it.

No I haven't but I would be courious to know what the problem is. I am sorry but please to give us an update.
That doesn't sound like a typical problem that is happening to people. Sounds like something pretty specific to your Trax. Only thing I could recommend other than waiting for the dealer to look at it is to look through recall notices to see if that might explain anything.
Thank goodness this happened during the warranty period. ECM was faulty. Here is the extract from the invoice:

Customer states check engine light is on and will not go over 15mph

Well glad that you figured it out. I assume its running smoothly now. All clear?
Not all clear yet, computer is still throwing codes after about 4 days. Dealership is now working to fix and involving someone at GM now.

Librado85, were you able to resolve this issue? Our new '15 Trax is doing the same thing. The first time we took it to the dealership, they ran diagnostics, and couldn't find a problem. The last night, just a week later, it did the same thing. It's frustrating and dangerous.

Maybe you can show your dealership Librado85's post? Point them in that direction.

One thing I found that helps a lot is to ensure you are going to a good dealer, and then to find out about specific people you should go to, that goes a long way.
Pretty sure each large dealership has one person who knows their way around the electronics of various vehicles.
Trax Limp Mode

I have Trax 63 plate and the limp mode keeps coming on with the traction control sign coming on. This is not the first time. It is beginning to get on my nerves.

I found this I hope maybe you can get somewhere with it, if I were you I would try switching off Traction Control or Stability Control when it happens to see if it makes a difference.

If it fails to try to start a lemon law claim but I'm not sure if you have the Lemon Law or anything like it in the UK

Hello yorkiebar,

We're very sorry to hear about this ongoing traction control lamp concern you're experiencing with your Trax. Have you notified your dealership of this yet? We would welcome the opportunity to look into this further for you. If interested, please send us a private message with your VIN to get started.

Holden trax 2015

This sounds like an issue i have going on with my 2015 trax at the moment and they are telling me theres nothing wrong with my car.... the engine light turned on after them having my car for 7 weeks fixing something that. Might I mention the first issues still not fixed and they have damaged cosmetic parts on my car in the process. NOT HAPPY

I’m currently having the same problem. Out of nowhere!
Has anyone had this issue permanently repaired?
