Finally we get the Trax in America! Not sure why Chevy didn't originally launch it in all or north america but finally it's here. It might be my next vehicle, here to learn more about it and share what I know

Theory goes that GM did not want to cut in the Equinox sales and the US had already the Buick Encore.
Reason why they did launch it after all is the ever changing market trends. The CUV As we call it here in Canada is currently a hot market with the Trax being the most economic one with its 1.4 litre engine. (And its true, after the break in period of my trax it starts to live up its brochure economics and even does better.) Chrysler/FIAT will launch their Jeep Renegade with probably a similar 4 cylinder turbo charged engine, maybe GM wants to get the part of the affordable CUV's in the states as well.

That makes sense. From How I see it, it's worth it for the to get involved in this segment even if it means a loss of sales elsewhere. Seems like the compact segments will be booming.

Don't know when the trax will come on the US market. If they are earlier than the renegade they might snatch some buyers away from them.

They should be out well before the Renegade! Its looking like the Jeep won't land until January 2015. I don't see why there should be any lengthy delay for the US TRAX, US and Canadian regulations are already fairly close together in terms of demands, so barring a few US specific tweaks I don't see why they shouldn't already be here ;)

That is possible, but I'm starting to think it won't be anything significant.

maybe, but for sure the Jeep will attract a different audience, the off-roaders. I got my Trax through terrain which I wouldn't go through wit a two wheel drive vehicle, but I don't think it was designed for that. Sure, I got it out of a ditch with a 45 degree angle back on the road, it had no issue with that, but I wouldn't take it further than that.
The trax is selling remarkably well here in Yellowknife. We have enough paved roads here, but also plenty of unpaved backroads and thats where the trax will excell.

Thing about the Renegade is its really not even trying to cater to the off road crowd, its only marginally superior to the TRAX off road, and thats only if you go to the top of the totem pole of trim! but 45 degrees you say! my my that is impressive!

That is very true, as much as Jeep is trying to make it true to it's roots, it won't attract many of the people that are hardcore jeep fans, more like new people to the brand

Those can be really steep, i've seen how some of them are. Im sure at the right angle the Trax can make it in and out of those, even the really steep ones, still tough to say for sure though.

Hey James,

We are absolutely thrilled to now have the Trax here in the States, and we would be happy to look for the perfect Trax in your location! Feel free to send us a private message, and we can get started. Looking forward to when the time comes!
