Hello.
Just to share an issue if you're experiencing trouble engaging your shifter, and having it lock, &/or are having trouble getting your key out of the ignition, chances are, your shifter unlock button, on your gear selector, is broken.
There is a service bulleting about this issue with several Chevy Models: Trax, Sonic among others. In the below videos I'm sharing, the repair is actually pretty easy where with a small flat blade screwdriver, go ahead and do it yourself, rather then taking your car to the stealership, and wasting money. Goind to the dealership, surely will charge you around $400!
The shifer button repair kit is GM part # 4242-3234 and can be found in Amazon or eBay (the last 4 digits could differ depending the color of the knob plate cover: chrome, mate, gold, etc.)

Video 2 (this one is more detailed however is in spanish. Sorry):

Just an advice:
1. When removing the parts, be care not to remove the spring what makes the button return. Otherwise you wll have a pain to put it again.
2. Be sure the hole of the new part be enough big in order the pin could pass over there.
Regards.
