Yup, that was my experience moving from a car from the 90's to the 2010's. Best thing to do (it's a bit boring) is to read the owners manual and test the controls as you read about them.

Plus usually there's PDF versions of the owners manual, which makes it easier to view the info you need. Catch up on the features of those colors while having your morning coffee at Starbucks

I think the build quality in San Luis Potosi is really good. Much improved from my Detroit made '64 Impala, the last US branded car I owned.

You are definitely not comparing apples to apples if you try to compare a 64 Impala. Don't even know if BMW was alive yet then.
