im not the owner but im working on a 2019 trax 1.4 turbo.

im changing the head gasket and i got the head off. my problem is when i took the head out, #13 (refer to pic) had came out... its a pin but a spring had came out with it. no idea where the spring came from or what its for.

asking if i need to put the pin and spring back in. i think i would have to put the pin in at least but im really asking whats up with the spring? i cant find any info on this mystical spring

also other than oil changes nobody has ever been this far in the motor

Do you have a picture of the spring?

Did you put a pin in #2 on the diagram before removing the head? If not, thats where the spring is from. It's your timing chain tensioner.

sooo.. was it the timing chain tensioner spring??
