Hi all,
I'm the owner of a 2019 trax LT. I was surprised to hear a mechanical sound when
toggling back and forth between the low beams and the high beams. What is it doing
and how long has the trax been using this design ? Thanks
There shouldn't be other than the relay. According to GM parts depot it's the same headlamps from 2017-2019 with projector option and it doesn't have a shutter either.
Traxy,
Thanks for the info. At least the design has been around for a while (what ever it is). I wonder why
there would be a relay in there given that there is only 1 bulb. What would the relay be switching ???
If you have fog lights it would switch that relay which is just in front of your left knee under the dash and the underhood relay that powers both High beam bulbs. Relays can handle a lot more current than the dimmer switch ever could.
I found an explanation of the lights that I think are in the trax
theretrofitsource.com blog headlight-tech-hid-projectors
I noticed the trax lights don't throw much light to the sides (probably because they are projectors).
That doesn't help much when you are trying to see deer standing on the side of the road.
