MyLink Replacement

After having owned my Trax for less than 6 days I'm sad to report its at the dealership awaiting the TOTAL replacement of the MyLink Infotainment Center.

The Power, Volume and Home button stopped working this morning. Also after I would turn the car off, get out and lock it ... I could stand outside of the car looking through the window and in about two minutes the radio would come on.

I was still able to control the system through the steering wheel controls as well as through the touch screen. It was just the actual buttons on the radio that stopped working. And I have no idea why it would come on while not occupied.

The dealership suggested a complete replacement. So far they've handled the situation well, I'm driving another Trax loaner until all the parts and service can be done. However I'm just over all disappointed since I literally just took ownership Monday night ... and today is Saturday.

Anyone else out there have this issue?
Also does the Chevy MyLink logo come up everytime you turn the car on? I've noticed that with my loaner. Mine was automatically going to the FM station I was on prior to turning it off.

I think this depends on how long it takes between when the car is unlocked and when power is supplied to the stereo. Sometimes I have to wait while the stereo boots (MyLink logo) and sometimes it immediately starts playing music from FM.
That sucks but at least it seems action was taken quick enough to get it worked on. Fortunately to the rest of the folks here this could push them to get similar action taken.

Keep us posted on how things go.
I think that everyone is just waiting for the Apple and Google systems to be installed into the Trax.
My car was returned to me this afternoon. Took roughly four days to have this issue resolved. The Dealership/Service Department did not have the radio in stock (understandable) so it had to be ordered and shipped in. Then a day to install after delivery. I had another Trax LS as my loaner car. So I'm chalking this unfortunate experience up to just an "extended test drive".

No real explanation was given as to why this might have occurred. Just a "bad" radio. My Service Consultant did say this was the first time a Trax had come back on their lot for an issue. Again not a confidence builder in my abilities to pick a car... but I'm trying my best not to be all death and despair.

My Service Consultant handled the situation very diplomatically. Little disappointed I did not receive any follow up(s) for the sales department. After selling me a brand new car that lasted a whopping SIX days before needing a significant repair I expected better customer service.

I'll keep everyone posted if any other hiccups pop up. (fingers crossed emoticon)

I am writing to let you know, you are no the only one with this issue. My Wife and I bought a Trax LS last Saturday, and it's been to the shop for a update for the radio. My radio was freezing up, and my back up camera lines was not showing up. while this was going on I had lines through my screen. I called the Dealership, and I have a appointment to have the problem fixed. and they are giving me a loaner. it's sad to say that a bran new car / Trax has an issue with the radio. I was told that the new ios for Apple will work, but has issues as well. this is a factory issue, and Chevy has to fix it. I hope everything goes well for you.
Good idea to take an extended warranty if you have an infotainment on your vehicle. My Uconnect with Garmin NAV was replaced under warranty in my Charger, the unit alone was 2200.00
Yup, the whole infotainment system in cars these days is around $2000 each and that's usually the minimum even if you buy the part yourself.
the MyLink is a cheap piece of crud.
Very old technology, cheap hardware. (Windows based)

we took delivery last May, and it is continually problematic. I just want to listen to the radio and play music. USB works, sometimes, sometimes not. Radio reception is poor, even with a high end antenna.
I have not tried to get the dealer to fix or replace, I do Not want another one, and I don't want car boys doing computer stuff on my car.

I have shopped and shopped, but have not settled on a new unit.

I find that I can get a high quality unit for about $500 installed. To get an additional control module to run those things like headlights and door locks costs about $150 more.

$2000? that sounds very strange... is that a Dealer price?
None of the stereo shops were talking that high, but I was just asking for AM/FM with a CD player, no fancy amps or speakers. This is in San Diego, Ca.

There were a couple threads here about replacements, but they are dead now.
Looking for suggestions!

PS: OnStar compatibility is not needed for me. That is another subject, but I do not want OnStar operational in my car.

After market you can go as low as 100 bucks plus your canbus adapter if you are just looking for music and bluetooth, which will cost you at least that much.

I got an S160 it comes in a CE or Android edition and runs absolutely everything I want, digital TV, rear screens. cameras ODB2 on screen real time diagnostics and came with all the required cables.
