Not getting correct mileage

I have had the trax about a month. Love the car. Have already put a bit over 1200 miles on it. I am only getting about 22.5 mpg. I am mostly city driving. I do not have a heavy foot or anything like that. I don't start off hard. The paper said I was supposed to get 26 city-34 highway average of 29. I am not getting that. Anyone able to help? I'm filling up almost twice a week. It's costing me more money then my old car.

Well you do say you pretty much do only city driving. So, I would not expect to see the average of 29 MPG. Also, I have always heard of the break-in period, that may also apply ? Remember, those numbers on the paper are under ideal conditions, which none of us drive in. Have a look in the forum under the mileage section to see what the real world numbers look like, posted by us average drivers. My wife drives more city than highway and is averaging 7.9 L/100kms which is about 31 MPG (US Gallon).
Do you live in a hilly town? San Francisco or something? That could have something to do with it.

Not too sure what to tell you though. You should check out the other mileage threads.

Break in does apply but in this case it seems that may not be the case since these numbers are so off, unless i'm wrong and after a maybe 3000 miles it might start reading right.
Just my two cents what it says on the paper i think is rollign down a hill in neutral because I have never owned a vehicle that gets what it says you are supposed to just an fyi
Just my 2 cents
When my wife drives the Trax..... averages 30 mpg all day long no matter where she drives
When I drive the Trax...average about 22 mpg, same conditions.

Also to note...AC on seems to cost this little motor about 2-3 mpg in city driving.

I think the best way to start is by driving in a way that requires the least about of effort from the engine: AC off, accelerating gradually up to the speed limit, etc .... but that of course is if you're not already doing those things.
I am new to the Chevy Trax Forum, I bought my 2015 Trax last year. My Trax has been great on gas; I would fill up the tank could literary drive from Houston, TX to Baton Rouge, LA approx 280 miles on a tank of gas. Recently, my gas gauge has been dropping quickly. When I take the same trip I have to stop in Lafayette to get gas because my tank is almost empty. I have taken my Trax to the dealer and they can't find anything wrong. Has anyone else had this problem and if so has it been resolved.
