hi wonder if anyone out there can help
i have a 2013 1.4awd trax and since new it been brillant car but for no reason at all the overheating warning light is coming on and as soon as i put heater on it goes out i reckon i could be thermostat
can any one please confirm

Never for no reason. lol
Did you check your coolant reservoir?
And yes your thermostat would be 1 reason if it is sticking closed but the thermostat in these are electronically controlled by the ECU so either it works or it doesn't.

Use Dexcool only in a 50/50 mix with preferably distilled water.

yes checked level and had not moved also good look around engine compartment no leaks can be found and no puddles of water under car .reckon i buy thermostat and replace as there seem to be a lot of talk on forum as to poor performance of factory fitted one (mind you after 7 yrs ) under constant heat/pressure taht a fair time
