I'm in the process of removing my rear air bags as a result of changing the rear cargo area trim panels. A squirrel got in through the rear vents behind the rear bumper and chewed the vents in the trim panel to get into the passenger compartment to munch on groceries left in the car over night....My question: Can I unplug the air bag & re plug it with out starting the car not to trip the air bag light? or do I have to disconnect the battery, but if I do that will I lose the memory in the computer???

When dealing with airbags it is always safer to disconnect the battery. You will not lose anything if you put it all back together properly.
