"Trax_Tracy2013", agreed. I've tried putting a regular-sized tire in the spare-tire compartment but unfortunately was unsuccessful, as I hate the "donut" spare tire as well! So far I've had to carry my regular-sized tire around in the backseat. I have had a few "tire-emergencies" when I've needed to use it, so far twice this year, so I just haul the spare around like a "second person" inside my Trax. I'm thinking of trying to figure out a way to disassemble the donut-spare compartment soon (hopefully before winter) , because I really hate carrying my spare-tire around that way, specially when I know I have the space in the truck, it's just not accommodated to fit a tire of that size.

I was also thinking that way,to disassemble the spare tire compartment, but i think it could bring in some noise due to vibration when the car is in motion, please let me know if you successfully took the compartment apart......

Not a bad look but for anyone confident in their ability to inspect used wheel should consider looking for used wheel and tire sets on the classifieds. With past cars I have done this and came across a lot of great deals.
