The Bandit

The wife and I purchased Bandit for her about 3 months back. Never knew about this forum until today and joined right away. This car replaces her trusty PT Cruiser ( granddaughter is very happy now ) and is starting out on the good foot. Did a few custom touches to it, tinted the windows, aftermarket wheels, a bra, added the factory fog lamps, painted the rear bumper to match the upper editions and a upgrade from a LS to a RS ( amazing what one letter change can do 0:) ). Great little car and a lot faster than what car magazines state. Ease off the line and step on it when it's in 2nd and it's gone. The reason it got the name Bandit is because its white with a black bra, some of you will remember the cartoon Jonny Quest. His dog Bandit was white with black mask. Managed to get it about 4K under book at 17. 6. The wife loves it.

What brand and model of aftermarket wheel did you go for? Interested in seeing any pictures you might have of it.

Were there any other vehicles you were considering before getting the Trax?
Will post some pictures later this week when it stops raining here. We were looking at a Chrysler 200, but the wife decided she wanted to stick with a small SUV type. Looked at a Jeep Patriot and the Encore. We were set to buy the Encore when we saw a Trax at a new car auto show. The wife fell for the Lava Orange paint (which we didn't get). After she set in it and saw the display that sealed the deal. I wanted to get the LT but she wanted the cheaper payments so we got the LS and I was told "You'll fix it up" Not all that happy with the aftermarket wheels and may get a set of the stock 16" mags. Right now I'm looking for a set of "Bow tie" center caps for the mags to have a more of a factory look.
I don't get the whole name your car thing, but, only a Pontiac Trans Am can be a Bandit.

As well as a crook and a movie. The wife's Trax is named for a cartoon character as I stated. I drive a Mustang Bullitt but Mercedes made a Bullit also. It's just a name my wife calls her car.
My Trax is just called car. Our other two cars are called car and car. We do name our boats though.

Yep, guess that's why we live in a free country. And I support your right to choose. Come to think of it, wonder why the car companies even name their cars. They should be called Sport Car or CUV Car or SUV Car and not Trax or Tracker, Trans Am etc. Ford and GM should just be called Car Companies. But I do think you' re right. As a matter of fact, even though Ford named my mustang Bullitt, I call it the "Green Car". My red '67 mustang is called the "Red Car". We also have did the same with our boats, the last new one we had was called the "New Boat" and the one it replaced was called the "Old Boat" Wow, Thanks.
The car companies name their cars for marketing purposes.

Why? if it's a SUV, it's a SUV. Nothing else.
Giving it a named doesn't make it anything different. Just like my wife calling her unit "Bandit". No matter what you call it, it's still a CUV. So why are we even discussing this? That's right, you wanted to question me and mine for doing what we want to with our property..
No I just explained to you that companies need to market their products, one aspect is giving it an appealing name which would identify it to the consumer.
How would companies successfully market their product if every product in that particular category had the same designation?

Nope I just said that only a Pontiac Trans Am should be called "Bandit", it was from a 1970's movie.

Let me get this straight, unless you drive a '69-'02 Pontiac Trans Am (in any color as me and my brother are rebuilding his '79 yellow 403 powered Trans Am at the moment) we have your permission to call it a "Bandit"? Boy, when the Dukes named the General Lee I bet you took that kinda hard. BTW Burt Reynolds was the Bandit, not the car. Listen, I know your just trolling, but this is kind of fun. >:D

Hey, you were the one who said you don't get the whole car naming thing, not me.

People naming their cars is what I don't get. Not product names. Entirely different thing.
Different generation, now someone puts stickers on their car and it's now a customized car.

Well if you paint it black you can call it that, with my permission and blessing.
You are correct that Burt Reynolds
handle was Bandit, the car was Bandit One, the semi was Bandit Two.
You don't have to worry about the General Lee, as now it's a racist car.

So now it has to be a BLACK Trans Am only, but any year I guess. OK, we'll dismiss the General and add Starsky and Hutch's Torino known as "The Red Tomato". And lets not forget Art Arfon's former land speed record holder "The Green Monster" or "The Batmobile" or "The Monster Coach" or the cars built by Chip Foose including "The Sniper" and this year's Ridler winner the '65 Chevy Impala known as "The Imposter". Wait, you're not a car guy, THAT'S why you don't get it. OK you win. NOW I can understand you....but this REALLY is fun. Don't stop!!Like that WWF wrestler says "FEED ME" >:D
And if I read your last reply correct a '74-'76 (?) Kenworth tractor can be a Bandit too? I assume only those with black and gold cabs. Man when we get through with this everything will be a Bandit, so far we have a man, a car and a big rig. And my wife can't have a pet name for her Trax..... errrrr I mean "car". More!!!!!!
