Tires

So I have a 2014 Trax and at the current time my tires are fine. I am not a big fan of the oem tires. The continental tires on our vehicle get poor reviews as well. However I haven't really found anything else. I have found a few tires but the are H rated. Anyone have any other info?

What about the OEM tires do not like? I have always found them to be good for general usage. I guess you need something with a higher speed rating?
When I wear mine out or I get tired of listing to them I will replace them.

The 205/70/16 being an expensive tire for some strange reason, I will maybe go to 215/65 or a 55 series tire. (as long as you get a tire with the same diameter 26.5" the computer won't change anything).

The only reason I would put large tires on this car is I want my same gas mileage, if you mess with larger heavier tires you loose MPG.

I'm happy with my gas mileage I want it to stay the same
I don't like that they wear quickly mostly. I will look for an alternative when I need to replace mine.

OEM tires for passenger cars are built to a price, and when it comes time to replace, are sold for usually the most expensive price...
The width isn't too important on tires as long as the diameter is the same?

Exactly when you look up the Trax size you get 205/70/16 then the tire choices are limited to a few expensive tires.

Drop the aspect ratio down to 60 and you get plenty of choices.

Most on line tire sellers show you the diameter all you need to do is keep it close to the original on the trax I think you might be safe going up 1" but no more.
Anyone installed a good snow tire on the Trax yet?

That's a good question, right now is when that should be happening, all right before the big rush when everyone is overwhelming shops getting them installed. Been through that before!
Yes I bought a set of Chevy Sonic 16" wheels and Cooper Weather master snows in size 205/65/16.

I test fitted everything now I'm ready for the first snows I don't put them on until I personally see snow that I know will give the Trax problems, then they come off in the 1st or 2nd week in March any snow after that will be short lived here in the NE.
I have Hankook IPike winter tires, size 215/65R16, installed on aftermarket steel wheels. Performs flawlessly in winter.

When you plan on snow tires I would pick up a set of Sonic or Cruze wheels they are reasonable on ebay, mine were 10 spoke Sonic wheels they were bought for $299.00 shipped

Then if you want your tire pressure sensors Ac delco 22854866 I bought these at Amazon for $16.99 each shipped

For tires I bought Cooper weather master 205/65/16 @ 74.00 each but you can probably do better locally since I see shipping charges are way up from when I bought them.
You might be better off finding a tire you like with shipping included, there are places that ship many tires daily they get a way better price on shipping due to bulk sales.

That's a smart move, there might even be some luck in getting wheels off a cadillac for a good price and they could do a lot of good for improving how the trax looks.
The only wheels I saw for the Trax in 5 on 105 were cruze and sonic, there isn't much out there with the 105 bolt circle.

What are you are going to try elongating holes in 5 on 100
My wife and I have a 2016, and 2017 Trax. The 2017 had to have it's tires replaced at 12,000 miles. After another 8,900 miles, those tires were SO worn that, they had to be replaced again under warranty. I bought a 2016 dealer loaner with only 5700 miles on it. I replaced them at 35,500 miles. Today, I get a tire rotation, and they tell me those tires are shot. Only 21,00 miles on them. Dealer says GM is aware of the problem but, will only replace the original brand of tire. It's a vicious circle.
Continental Tires? They are Crap. I put Michelin Defenders on mine, what a difference, these are actually round, can you believe it what a concept round tires. You may need to go up or down a size but don't put that crap back on your Traxs

Thank you. I will NEVER get Continental tires again.
Personally, I would rather run a full set of Douglas Tires from Walmart than to reinstall these Continentals. I've always had good luck with Firestone FR710's also on multiple vehicles.
I don't know exactly how many miles I put on the Continental tires because they were on the Trax only six months out of the year but I'm pretty sure they didn't make it to 25000 miles. To give you an idea how bad they were, they drove worse than my Hankook winter tires. When I switched to Michelin it totally changed the ride and I found new love for my Trax. Now it rides like it should.
