While I wait for Helm to release the 2019 shop manual, does anyone know how much to
torque the oil drain plug and oil filter ? Thanks

These are the torque specs for my 2016, I can't imagine they would be any different for the same engine in the 2019.

Notice the oil pan drain plug is in lb-inch not ft-lb

Thanks Traxy
10 ft/lb seems like too little. Guess they don't want it to get stripped.

I always hand tighten and never had a problem.

I have a Helm USB manual for my 2018 Trax, and it’s the same as Traxy’s post.

I hand-tighten, plus 1/4 turn with socket wrench. Never had a problem with stripping, fastener shavings, or gasket damage on the plug.

The only other 4 cyl ecotec engine I've owned was in a saturn Vue. That wanted 18 ft/lb for both the drain plug
and the plastic oil filter cap. That is why I thought 10 ft/lb was a little low.

In the chart above,, I don't see 10 ft/lbs listed as a line item...where are you seeing that? Also, not sure which line-item refers to the plastic cap covering the oil filter...what is it called on the chart and/or what is the proper torque for it?

Probably approximated 124 in-lb divide by 12 = 10.3ft-lb
