Windshield wiper arms?

Why can't I raise the arms of the windshield wipers? The hood gets in the way. Does everybody have this issue? How do you get around this with snow and ice?

The wipers don't clear the hood on any of the trax.

Its a real pain the best thing I can tell you to do is get a sheet of plastic put it between the wipers and the glass at least they will not freeze to the glass.

You could cover the whole windshield using the wipers to hold down the plastic.
Dodge , Ram and Chrysler seem to still have this option still generally. I have heard raising the wiper arms all the time may also stretch / weaken the springs meaning less down force of the wipers on the windshield over time ? Who knows ?
How do you change the wipers? I can't figure out that button.
you can clean the blades with rubbing alcohol (isopropyl)
Just be sure to lower the wiper arms again before turning the key back on. I can only imagine there would be some paint damage, possibly wiper arm damage, if they were activated while in the lifted position.

Just run the wipers and cut the motor off when they are mid stroke. No problem

Exactly, same method it's been for a long time with GM vehicles. If you have a push button starting version, open the driver door before you cut off the engine.

Tried that but they didn't stay up.
