in the few short months my wife & I have owned our Trax(s) (Yes, we both drive a Trax) We've both had the windshield hit several times with small stones while on the freeway, causing insurance claims to get repaired? First mine, and now hers.

It seems the aerodynamics force stones right into the windshield..

Are we just having bad luck?

Just replaced mine this week. Rock hit the headlight bounced off the hood and hit the glass. Put a nice chip in it and spiderwebed the **** out of it. 200 dollars later I have a new windshield. I wish Illinois had no deductible glass laws like Florida.

You install a bug shield you will change the aero that GM carefully designed to give combo of highest mpg and least wind noise.
Have put over 70k miles on 4 Encores and no windshield issues so don't think it's an inherent design problem.

Just wanted to update on my status..
So in fall of 2018 the repair done to my first chip ended up spidering out and the vendor that did the work replaced the windshield no charge. Kind of a hassle but couldn't complain too much.

In early February 2019 I was on the freeway on a snowy morning (Only on the freeway for about 10 miles a day) behind a pickup, a few cars lengths back due to the the weather conditions when I heard the dreaded TICK!
I scanned the window and didn't notice anything, but wife was in the Trax yesterday as a passenger when she noticed a small 1/4inch spider in the left lower windshield.
D'OH!

Yeah! I received a stud from a studded tire in January from a lady spinning her tires in front of me and it cracked the windshield just above the wipers the whole length from side to side curving downwards just before the "A" pillar. I will get it changed when all the idiot drivers remove their studded tires.

We had a 2015 Trax and now a 2018. In that 4 years not a single chip in the windshield.
Ohh poo, I actually typed that, I should be catching a stone in the next week or so now........

Knock on wood. My wife's 11 year old G6 has the original windshield. Oops! Maybe I shouldn't have said that either. ( lol )

Already changed the Buick's and next month I'll be changing this one.
