2018 Trax issues after filling up

My 2018 Trax with 107,000 miles has just recently started having issues, and it seems more common after a fill up. I can be at stop light and press the gas pedal and it will almost die. I can wait a few seconds, and it will accelerate fine. Idle seems rough as well. It starts just fine and no CEL. Recently just had a tune up with new spark plugs and air filter. Been to the dealership and they don’t seem to think anything is wrong, and that I maybe overfilling the tank but have owned the car from new and no issues until now. Any suggestions?

I'm not enough of an expert to provide an exact diagnosis and solution. however, I can provide some ideas to look into if no one else comes up with something better later.

if it runs than it is getting air, fuel, and spark. if it is running rough that it might not be getting one of those things properly. you have new spark plugs and air filter. it might be worth running a bunch of fuel cleaner through your fuel system to clear up any carbon deposits that might be in your fuel injectors.

the symptoms you're talking about can also be caused when the piston is having a hard time pushing air out of the cylinder on the exhaust stroke. the most common cause of resistance like this is the catalytic converter. even before the material inside is all used up, the cat can get clogged and begin to obstruct air flow. Even without a cat these modern vehicles produce better emissions than vehicles did when emission regulations where first put in place. you can drill out the material in the cat and use an adapter to shield the down stream CO2 sensor.

unfortunately, the turbo could also be an issue. this is something that is difficult to verify without spending a couple hours taking the turbo off of the car and visually verifying the inside of the exhaust side of the turbo. shops won't do this unless they have ample reason to expect that the turbo is bad. they won't do it because they will charge you for that time and they likely have nothing to show for it. your symptoms could be cause by the turbo blade spinning off access. no real problem is going to be visible until the turbo blade wobbles so much that it contacts the inside wall of the turbo housing, or until the turbo starts leaking oil or coolant.

any time you do go into the shop, ask about the PCV system. the multiple valves in this system are very common failure points in the 1.4L ecotec power train. any failure will not stop the car from running; but can cause symptoms like rough idle, lower power, and burning oil.

hope this helps!

Hello All!
I have a 2018 Trax with 85 thousand miles on it and the check engine light has come on recently... I took it to auto zone and they scanned the car and the code for a new air filter came up so I got that replaced. Then the light came on again so I took and back and cleaned the sensor that is connected to the air filter because the same code came up again. both times I got the check engine light cleared and it lasted about two days and the light came back on again. The only thing I have done differently was put 89 octane fuel into the car but I don't see a reason why that would be an issue. If anyone has any feedback that would be awesome. I am willing to try anything

All your problems from purge valve, it can cause several codes not 1 or 2 but more, even issue with maf sensor, I got mine and what can I say pay attention to this valve.
1. Lean issues, valve on a first look can work good but on the valve can be stratification of plastic, it almost do not visible
2. Can cause electrical problems
3. Not good work of engine starting and during stops on traffic lights
4. Electricity locking
Codes: p0171 and p1101 can also cause purge valve because of the stratification of the plastic. Look this video I got the same story with the valve.
