My Trax is getting another Engine installed the shop told me they are using a remanufactured engine they did not wanna put in a used one so they got the extended warranty company, to agree to a remanufactured one. Will it be better than a factory one? I been looking online and some say it’s worse then A GM New engine but others say it’s better as all the bugs are removed buy using better quality parts in known weak area. I have no clue that’s why I’m asking here if anyone knows anything about this kind of stuff is the (remanufactured) engine have all the same problems I read about these 1.4 Eco tech Engines. Or am I better off?

I'm actually installing a warranty-used engine on a 2018 right now. It's a A14NET engine and the job costs $3,000.00. FYI unless you're getting a new core engine that they are going to add all your old stuff to, then chances are they are getting the engine from LKQ. LKQ has a warranty on all the engines they use; you just gotta pay for labor.

A brand-new/remanufactured core block usually comes from a few companies; one is Spartan(AdvanceAutoParts uses them for sure). They also have some form of warranty.

I've never seen one come from the maker and I've been doing swaps since the 90s.. I'd imagine it'd cost more than a 2018 AWD LS off some used lot..

My 2018 Chevy Trax has been at Midas since March 3. They’ve been going back-and-forth with the Warranty company as the warranty company wanted to use a used engine Midas finally got them to settle for a remanufactured engine. The engine was delivered last week last Tuesday they said the engine has about 18 different upgrades. Not sure if they are lying or not as I know nothing about remanufactured engines! but that’s what the shop told me. They say it comes with new turbo oil pump, water pump only thing it didn’t come with the oil cooler, they ordered a new one of those and thermostat and housing. They ordered new one of those they claim they are going to start installing the engine tomorrow morning, so hopefully I’ll have it back by Friday of this upcoming week that is when they say it should be done. I have no idea who manufactured the engine as when I asked him he did not know. He just said it was one of two companies and he went with the one that was the better deal for me. Whatever that means I’m assuming the most upgrades as my deductible is the same no matter what
