That doesn't sound right. I'd be surprised if the 25 part is different from the 24 part.
You would think it would be the same. The whole thing is crap. Unless there are so many issues with the AC and there are many people in line before me. I don't know. It's hard getting any answers from Finnegan in Rosenberg where I bought the car and from Westside Chevy where I took it due to my work being down the street.

What is the part hanging next to the oil filter?
All I know is the piston went through the engine I’m guessing it may have torn it up and that is what is hanging. Don’t know much about cars though so not 100 percent sure. Currently I’m still waiting to hear what they plan to do but currently no engines in the warehouse.

Chevy dealership has given me a rental until car is fixed though and luckily I also purchase extended coverage so that should make things easier.

will be hard to trust this engine going forward though.

Where are the incidences of occurrences in the Envista? The Trailblazer? The Encore GX? The 1.2L engine for ALL these models and the Trax are ALL built in the same plant in Mexico. Nothing happening to those.....
I wondering ... I'm wondering that some of these "engine" issues are brought on by their owners. This is a 1.2 3 cyc engine. It's designed around a Asian/European mindset. They don't drive the cars like they "stole" them everywhere they go ... they are better about preventative maintenance. I've worked around the auto industry for close to 50 years an Ag industry for over 15 years and now are retired, but some of things I see are really bad concerning US car owners. I'm about to take delivery on a Red Trax LT. Told someone the other day ... after watching the YouTube "Customer States" videos the best used car to buy is the cheapest new one. The other car we considered is the Hyundai Venue, and if a dealer was closer than 35 miles away would have rather bought the Hyundai. The cheapest cars will hold up if "you done drive'em like you stole'em" and look after them.

Why did you get rid of it at a loss? Was something wrong? Why did Nissan charge you $3800?
Because for one thing I did not do my homework on it this car is made in Korea if I knew that at the time I would never have bought it. Nissan was going to give me only 20000 dollars for it after I paid 26000. I knew there would be some difference Wyler Chevrolet in Cincinnati is where I bought it and they did not want to deal with me. I saw this forum where people was talking about engine failures in them and where it had to come from and the time of getting it . So we decided we made a huge mistake and got rid of it.

It's hard to say these days, everything is built cheap, even the food we eat! It's really profits before people, worse than ever. The almighty dollar will be mankind's demise! Sorry to say, The new Trax, I hope it's not the new cream puff and goes the way of the Vega! Look that GM baby up! I have had about 6 new Chevys from cars to vans to trucks, they all had little quirks but nothing major that couldn't be fixed. I have a idea, start checking your oil when you get gas, look for any metal shiny silver grayish looking on your dip stick, wipe it with a white paper towel for best results! If you do, head to the dealership immediately!
Like the idea about checking the oil for deposits ... I'll do you one better. Change the oil after about 400 to 500 miles, and use a full synthetic motor oil like Castrol or Mobile 1. And change your driving style, don't drive it like you stole it everywhere you go. These cars are built around a Asian/European mind set, they are slow start, slow stop drivers. I've been driving a hybrid for over 10 years ... you want a long lasting engine ... you want greater gas mileage master the art of the slow start a stop.

Agree w/you about the internet trolls. If this were to be a engine issue why didn't it show up 3 to 5 years ago as the Encore GX and Trail Blazer have been out there too long. I remember that about 8 months ago that all the trolls could do was go on about the "internal wet belt" ... the GM wet belt is made of a completely different material than that of the Ford who really is causing problems. I'm waiting for either a red LS or LT ... I'm comfortable with the decision to buy.
Well I can prove you wrong here because I know the way it works . I worked for GM for over 25 years

Fake story??? JFC….
Call Janzen GMC in Enid Ok. Service manager is Mark Janzen. (580) 366-1905. Ask them if they have a 2024 Chevy Trax awaiting engine replacement since April 13. Ask them how many holes are blown through the engine block due to sudden catastrophic engine failure.

I thought this forum was for people to share information and learn. I joined to search and see if anyone else had the same problem. It’s not fake just because you don’t want to believe it. I’m glad it was under warranty. But I don’t want the car anymore. It is definitely a much bigger problem than people think. And it is a real problem. Be careful about spreading fake information. That doesn’t benefit anyone.
Can you tell me what is happening to the Trax now? I have had so many problems now you all say something will happen to the engine next? My 2024 has 8200miles on it. I've been waiting for the dealership service Mgr to get back to me because the radio shuts off after 10 seconds then I have to select the station again.

I always buy new Chevy's from cars to trucks too and NEVER had problems like the Trax gives me. I'm getting rid of it as soon as I find something else. It may be time to part ways with Chevy!

I'm wondering how much it has to do with the recall?
Some Chevy trax including mine have a recall for the start /stop, (got mine done earlier this month.)
It can cause the engine to run out of timing. General Motors is saying if this happens, could cause severe engine damage!

Not all need this recall, check with your dealership! ship

It will all come out no hiding this major malfunction. I was hoping for bad labor VS cheap parts. Over 100 years building old tech engines and this is what we get? Unreal in this day and age for a new engine to blow up? This is bad, very bad, does anyone have 10k miles yet? Being a year old for many some should have 15 plus...
I only have 8200 on mine. I ordered an Ebike so I don't have to use the car every day! I hired a lemon law lawyer. GM made a payoff, I kero the car and they have to take care of all the repairs. I'm getting rid of it as soon as the 2025 Equinox comes out. As I told the Svc Mgr, I love the car, but I'm afraid of it!

I'm gonna call BS on this whole thing.

I don't believe anything posted on social media, sorry, that's not proof. All the ones on reddit were deleted by author so that's some credibility there. Facebook is a cesspool of robo posts, fake stories and click-seeking, that's credible. How do know they didnt blow them up out of stupidity or on purpose? No car company could hide this. And yes, GM has to fix it, they do NOT have to buy it back, but I still find that hard to believe as they bought back my used Bolt EV. GM is hiding nothing. No reason the engine should take that long, it's available at GMPartsDirect to retail customers in 7 to 10 business days so I'm sure a dealer could get it faster. To anyone that has worked at a dealership it's easy to see the holes (no pun intended) in this fake story as we know how this all works and how long these things take and how they're reported up the chain to get things fixed. It costs less to fix issues than to fix bad press.
I don't necessarily doubt the case members are reporting here, but yes, social media has become about as reliable a source of information as our news outlets have become a source of honest reporting.

I may add, and no offense, but these online parts sources are nothing but dealerships and distributors listing any still valid part number with a standard low markup from cost. Many of them don't even physically have those parts, and in checking the availability of those "in stock" parts they list for customers I often find the parts are on backorder without any ETA or have simple been obsolete, sometimes for several years.
I will add, though, as I work at a dealership (not GM), the number of backordered parts is again increasing. I suspect this is also true with most manufacturers.
Last, I don't know why it is that items sometimes needed aren't readily available as they should be -- once in a while they do discover they've made a mistake somewhere and are caught off guard, but I suspect sometimes it's just poor planning or more of a need to keep production flowing vs. customer needs addressed. I mean, I'll have a customer's vehicle down for six months waiting for a module that is going into every one of the 50,000 vehicles that came off the assembly line while theirs' was down. That makes no sense and is infuriating.

I to worked and retired at a GM dealer parts department and I will say this and vehicles built in Korea takes a longtime to get. One year I ordered a harness for a KIA and took two months and later the same customer came back again and ordered another one , two months again . This car was in the body shop
