Some of the models are made in Korea and some in Mexico.
Have don't take the time to fix all the issues they have in all those cars, Cheaper not to I guess.
Get extented warerntys can help, but its a extra 3k about.
Turbos go bad and can ruin the whole engine.
If there are problem why get an extended warranty ? Get rid of the car or don’t buy one

I have a chevy trax but no problem so far so good and I hope it's stay that way. But if it does I will take it back to chevy dealer.
Good luck with that and I wanted to get rid of mine before any problems started and Chevrolet just looked at me like I was a Zombie , went to a Nissan dealer and got rid of it only had 1895 miles on it . Lost my but or should I say got raped on it , but it is out of my life

I to worked and retired at a GM dealer parts department and I will say this and vehicles built in Korea takes a longtime to get. One year I ordered a harness for a KIA and took two months and later the same customer came back again and ordered another one , two months again . This car was in the body shop
It doesn't really surprise me, but this has been a common issue even with the domestics since the shutdown. We've seen this with engines/transmissions/sheet metal/ and a wide range of parts. Heck, we had a customer who came to us as the second dealership to try and get their car fixed, they already waited 6 months for a transmission control module elsewhere, and then was waiting with us for several more until we had another customer who had been waiting cancel their order as they got rid of the vehicle.

Yup, the engine in mine blew up and the dealer is refusing to make good on a car I only owned for 4 months. Everyone at the dealership has acknowledged there is a problem with these cars, the dealership will not gage responsibility, and they have told me there are no replacement engines available for these cars. I filed a claim with GM and this Wednesday, 14 days after the replacement engine was ordered, my claim was submitted for a 100% dealer buyback. I'm not holding my breath. Meanwhile, the process crawls along and I am without a car.

Wasn’t that the case with Toyota and Nissan for a time maybe 90s 2000s? Supply chain not being addressed by anyone.

Fake story??? JFC….
Call Janzen GMC in Enid Ok. Service manager is Mark Janzen. (580) 366-1905. Ask them if they have a 2024 Chevy Trax awaiting engine replacement since April 13. Ask them how many holes are blown through the engine block due to sudden catastrophic engine failure.

I thought this forum was for people to share information and learn. I joined to search and see if anyone else had the same problem. It’s not fake just because you don’t want to believe it. I’m glad it was under warranty. But I don’t want the car anymore. It is definitely a much bigger problem than people think. And it is a real problem. Be careful about spreading fake information. That doesn’t benefit anyone.
Do they pay your rental since under warranty?

I just traded in a 2024 trax with 23,000 flawless miles for a 2025. I noticed that the '24 took 5w30 engine oil and the '25 now calls for 0w20. I thought it strange that the '24 would take that "heavy" of an oil for a new DI turbo engine. I wonder if all these engine failures could be caused from the 5w30 and GM is now calling for 0w20. 🤔

I don't think so, if it were the oil then all the 1.2's used in the Encore GX and now the Envista would be giving trouble, an for the Encore GX those have been in use for over 5 years ... same for the Trail Blazer. As for the oil change ... the '25 Trax can use E85 as well an reg/med/hi-test fuels.

I think it's related to the latest emissions recall! My 2024 activ was on that recall list, takes about 30 minutes to get it reprogrammed!

The start-stop can malfunction, causing the engine to run out of time, can cause severe engine knock, eventually causing permanent damage to the engine!

I wondering ... I'm wondering that some of these "engine" issues are brought on by their owners. This is a 1.2 3 cyc engine. It's designed around a Asian/European mindset. They don't drive the cars like they "stole" them everywhere they go ... they are better about preventative maintenance. I've worked around the auto industry for close to 50 years an Ag industry for over 15 years and now are retired, but some of things I see are really bad concerning US car owners. I'm about to take delivery on a Red Trax LT. Told someone the other day ... after watching the YouTube "Customer States" videos the best used car to buy is the cheapest new one. The other car we considered is the Hyundai Venue, and if a dealer was closer than 35 miles away would have rather bought the Hyundai. The cheapest cars will hold up if "you done drive'em like you stole'em" and look after them.

Well my piston went right thru the engine and now I’ve been waiting over a month and they have no idea when one will become available. I can assure you this had nothing to do with my driving as my previous vehicle I owned for 17 years. The dealership stated in their words it was engine failure and basically engine exploded.

Update: went in to dealer 7/12/24 and was told that I am "in trouble", that there is only 1 of these engines in the country, and that I need to start begging GM for my money back. I think there was some play acting going on. I will continue to press for a solution.
Any news on your motor? I’m still waiting as the dealership has no idea.

It took 3 months to get a replacement engine and all gaskets and seals needed. 2 days after getting the car back, the check engine light came on. It is now sitting at the original dealership (where I bought the car). This is the 3rd week it’s been there. A GM field engineer came out to inspect it last Friday. Awaiting a report.

Same for my Trax , I'm selling it to Honda only 1000$ less than what I paid ,Chevy didn't want to give me much, engine failure (same as yours, lights flicker, leaking calipers,Cruze control stopped working, carplay not working, backup camera showing my plates like a fisheye effect
