Same for my Trax , I'm selling it to Honda only 1000$ less than what I paid ,Chevy didn't want to give me much, engine failure (same as yours, lights flicker, leaking calipers,Cruze control stopped working, carplay not working, backup camera showing my plates like a fisheye effect
Hard to believe a dealer will give you that much with all the problem you list and when you say Same for my Trax, it sounds like it has a bad engine.

Don't feel bad, I work at a Ford dealership and this is a normal repair order for many customers with the 1.5L and 2.0L that have coolant in the cylinders.
Additionally, those with a Focus and Fiesta have waited longer for transmission control modules than that. We actually had one customer who waited at another dealership for six months come to us to see if we had better luck acquiring one for them.
And if that's not bad enough, we had to install two replacement engines in one customer's F150 because the reman. engine originally installed was faulty; and then the replacement for that one was faulty too.

Hence, the reason I didn't opt to trade-in my Maverick for another Ford.

Well my piston went right thru the engine and now I’ve been waiting over a month and they have no idea when one will become available. I can assure you this had nothing to do with my driving as my previous vehicle I owned for 17 years. The dealership stated in their words it was engine failure and basically engine exploded.
Mine took 3 months to receive the engine

Any news on your motor? I’m still waiting as the dealership has no idea.
On 7/31 the dealer texted that my engine had been replaced and car was ready to go. Should be good news, but I'm wondering where this engine came from when everyone at the dealership told me there were no engines to be had. I asked to get the new 100k mile warranty They promised written up on the paperwork and they told me that was a mistake.
Yesterday, 8/19, the AC stopped working. I'm taking the car back to the dealer tomorrow for AC diagnosis and repair.

I called GM (Canada here ) and they gave me +1 year full extended warranty

I guess my frustration shows in my post. Dealing with GM and the dealership is not as easy as everyone expects or thinks. In addition to the engine failure, the dealership left mine out in 2 hailstorms. 😡 I’m attaching a pic of mine on the side of the road too. Good luck to you. View attachment 6020
Yup. I've had zero help from GM or the dealership, especially regarding the promised additional warranty. The GM rep said, "We're not able to do that," and I replied, "You most certainly are able to do that but for some reason you are choosing not to."

There's a recall on the emissions something to do with the start stop. It can cause the engine to run out of time, causing severe engine damage! I just got my recall done on 7/6/24, not all the 24 Chevy tracks need this recall.
I got the recall notice maybe a week after the engine blew up. The notice said there should have been warning notices which I never got while driving so I can't be sure if that's what caused it.

Did you purchase the extended warranty when you originally purchased your car?

My opinion, extended warranty's are a waste of money. Don't need it on a new car! If you have it on a used car, good luck using it. There's usually loopholes, they don't cover most things anyhow!

It all depends on the situation imo. If you are going to trade the car in before original warranty ends, then yeah, don't get one. But if you plan on to, or may possibly, keep the car past the original warranty, then it's a good idea to get one to have peace of mind and is definitely worth it if things go wrong. We had a Dodge Caliber that had the transmission go outside the original warranty. The extended warranty covered it all and we would have been screwed when it happened as money was tight at the time. Wife was happy that I pushed getting it when we bought it lol. Just my thoughts and everyone has to decide if they feel it's worth it or not.

I'm surprised you got one of these warranty to cover your transmission!
What was the name of the warranty company?

These extended warranty companies don't have a very good BBB rating!

I honestly can't remember. It was on a 2010 Dodge Caliber we got in 2011 brand new for a good price. The Extended warranty was through the dealership at the purchase. We had the car brought in to the same dealership for the repairs when it happened.

The same thing happened to my daughter and her 2024Trax. I told her to buy a Honda or Toyota but she liked the look of the Trax. The initial ratings were good. Now she has a blown engine with 3500 miles on it. I had her file a report NHTSA. I am thinking of hiring a lemon law lawyer. If i dont get an engine in 30 days, i will goto BBB autoline or get a lawyer. After I flipped out on the service manager, they had a chevy Silverado for her to take as a loaner. They wont get that back until this is resolved one way or another. I have a feeling that this car is going to be a major problem for Chevy and they are going to alienante many first time car buyers. I hope GM does the right thing, but I have my doubts
