My 2024 Trax LT just got oil change; have gone 300 miles since and oil monitor is down to 91%. Is this OK? Last diagnostics said I could have an oil leak but nothing firm showed up, yet.

The oil monitor also goes by "elapsed time". One Year from time of service.
On my 2020 I changed oil in the Fall of the Year. Parked it all Winter. By Spring the oil "life" was down to about 50%........from just sitting?? I don't think so!!
I just ignore that oil monitor all together, and just perform oil changes based on mileage, on one of the Trip meter's available.

Yes........"maybe" if the engine has not ran in 20 years........but only 5 months?? No way I will change out fresh oil with "supposedly" 50% life already gone from just sitting still......it never was even used, in running that engine!!!! It would be a WASTE of perfectly still good oil.........

Well, it's been 6 months and 5 days since the oil change on our 2024 LS. Total mileage since the oil was changed has been 41. Oil life is at 51%.

However, we bought it in January of 2024, stored it until late April, drove it 2600 miles over the summer, and I think it still showed over 60% remaining by November, when we brought it in for the "one free oil change and tire rotation" that came with the vehicle. (you had to have the service done within 12 months of purchase in order for it to be free)

Odd that it's now at 51%. Unless the tech doing the service forgot to reset the monitor. I didn't think to check before I put it away for the winter.

Once all the salt is off the roads, I'll bring it in and ask the service dept.

In all my vehicles (4 of them) I go by mileage. I write it down and put it on my tool box lid with a magnet. The Trax will get its first oil change at 3000 miles. Then 3500 to 4000 after words. My Silverado gets it at 3500. The 2 classic Trans Am's get it once every 2 years. They are in a controlled atmosphere and are hardly driven.
