I bought my very first car ever in March of 2025, I’m a happy owner of a Chevy Trax I love this car. It’s very roomy and comfortable and love the smooth ride and sporty look.

Thanks for having me. I have had a few issues with my Apple car play, when I have my cord into the port my Apple car play acts up. Also my radio gets stuck and my screen gets distorted and freezes. Also my a/c will sometimes be cold then suddenly not cold then kicks back in cold again. I only have 5100 miles on my Trax. I go for my first oil change soon I thought I’d bring it up to the dealership when I take it in what do you think?

Carplay is known for it's issues, it's not just a Trax one. Make sure your phone and all apps are up to date, turn off VPN on your phone if you have one and make sure you are using a quality cable, not a Five below special, etc. For more tips and info that can possibly help, you can check this thread out. Also, take a gander at your manual as it will answer 99% of questions you have on your car. As for oil changes, as you find info throughout this forum, 5,000 miles is max mileage recommended for an oil change so I'd suggest to get it done asap. Usually most like to do it 3-4k miles due to it being a GDI engine with a Turbo and having a wet belt exposed to the oil.

That’s scary because they told me to go by the Chevrolet app which shows I don’t need an oil change until like 7500 miles. They said you don’t need to come in at 5000 miles so I go by my app, which still shows I have like 25% oil life left With my old cars in the past I’ve always taken them early for the change and been told to wait till I’m like 20% low then come in. I’ll go and schedule an appointment. Thank you for your advice. I appreciate it.

They told me to go by the Chevy app and it says I have 2500 more miles to go before oil change. That’s scary so you suggest I get an oil change now even though I am at like 25% oil on the app my pass cars. I’ve always done my oil change early and everyone’s always told me. I’m coming too early that I that’s scary so you suggest I get an oil change now even though I am at like 25% oil on the app my pass cars. I’ve always done my oil change early and everyone’s always told me. I’m coming too early that I need to wait till my car tells me I need an oil change so confusing thank you for all your advice. I’ll make my appointment.

The primary reasons we had ours changed for the first time at 2600 miles were:

1.) Always like to get any initial break-in debris out of the system. and...

2.) The stealership said we got one free oil change, but it had to be done in the first 12 months. We initially picked up our Trax on January 2nd, 2024 and we store for the winter, (End of October to the end of April) so we had the oil changed in the middle of October, washed & waxed it, filled the tank with non-ethanol premium + Sta-Bil™, put it in the car-port, hooked up the battery maintainer, installed the car-cover and put 'er away for 6 months. I made sure to start it about once a month while it was in storage and let it run for 10-15 minutes each time.

We'll follow the same procedure for the 2nd oil change next month, but it'll be at around 5600 miles.

Our situation is a little different than most people's, (we have 6 vehicles between the two of us) but I like to try to get the oil changed on all the vehicles every 3,000 miles. On our two classic vehicles and on our 4X4 SUV, we change the oil every other year since we only usually put a few hundred miles per year on them.

Welcome to the site.
A good Dog Mon would post a picture of her dog or dogs with the new car :)
I would change your oil now.
On my wife's 2025 Blazer we have the oil changed around 4,000 miles.
My 2018 Equinox will be used mostly for town driving now so I'll have the oil changed every 3,000 miles. On the last 3,000 mile oil change the car and app showed 40%

I had the oil change on the Blazer last week early because we have a car trip coming up. 3,000 miles on the oil and the life showed at 62%
The previous change had 4,000 miles on the oil and the life was 49%
I had the first oil change at 1,200 miles. I did not record what the Oil Life Monitor showed.

Welcome to the Forum!

Your instincts are correct, get the vehicle in for that first oil change.
Most here will agree that 4 or 5 thousand mile oil changes is the "norm". (Some do it even earlier)
You may not know/understand the side effects of having a GDI/Turbo engine...which is no biggie.
Suffice it to say that earlier than recommended oil changes are standard for these types of engines. (Regardless of manufacturer)

The Apple/Android connection bugs are not uncommon. I just had to log back in to the "My Chevrolet" App...i think that is what it is called....and reconnect my Android phone. Works fine now.
If you are familiar with that process, it seems to "reset" the connection, for lack of a better word.

Lots of good information on these Forums.
