It must have come with the Continental Tires too then, cuz they are crap.

Is your check engine light ''ON''?

Should be under warranty if you turbo died.

Well it sounds like you lost turbo assist. Check if the intake is still well seated and sealed.

With all of these problems coming up I wonder if I should jump ship while my car has low miles on it?

If I sell it off before it hits 10K I might be better off.

I had planned on keeping it until it fell apart, looks like it might fall apart quickly. much more quickly than I had figured.

I might just take a giant step backward, buy something old get away from this hi tech crap go back to the cars I used to drive.
You do realize that all the people that don't have any problems with their Trax aren't on here complaining that they're not having any problems.

Did you read your GM manual, it seems simple enough in the instructions? I shows all the anchor points and how to get at them.

There was a recall on older models, I thought GM had resolved this issue.

Calm down, if I remember correctly only a few of these had this so called moisture issue in cold weather and maybe even GM is intrigued since they thought they had this issue fixed. Maybe it is as simple as a leaky intake seal. Don't throw in the towel just yet, be a bit more patient. Remember -50°C is a bit extreme for vehicles to perform in. We may get -20°C here at times and I find that pretty extreme for these machines to work in. Give the dealer a chance to sort this out.

DTC U0073 Controller Area Network (CAN) Bus Communication

DTC U2100 Controller Area Network (CAN) Bus Communication- BCM, EBCM, ECM, IPC, PSCM, Radio, SDM, TCM, VCIM

My guess, removing, cleaning, adding a bit of dielectric grease and re-seating several times the BCM connectors will clear this problem. The body control module cleans, clips and re-amplifies the Canbuss signal before sending it out to other modules like the RCDLR, radio, TDM, instrument panel and back to TCM, ABS and ECM. Corrosion causes the Canbuss signal to lose amplitude and to degrade to the point the ECM sets these code. Not a bad idea to swap all the fuses for new ones at this time since the tabs may also be corroded or pitted. Pitting is caused by running a square wave signal through these small 12 volt fuses that weren't really designed to handle the spikes caused by a square wave.

Here's a picture of a fuse I pulled from a Cobalt that had the exact same symptoms that you seem to have. This fuse obviously wasn't pushed in all the way and was the wrong value. It should have been a red 10 amp fuse. This fuse was pulled from the location called ECM/TCM but it's actually the canbuss signal.

I'm just posting this as an example as to what you may want to watch for. I don't even know if the Trax has the equivalent or what it's called but I will investigate further.

Did you check your oil level? Maybe it was overfilled and when you ran it on a real cold morning the PCV sucked a bunch of oil. Mine did this one morning in the last week of the year but I didn't get the sputtering and lost of power. It smoked blue for about 20 seconds then worked fine. When I got home I checked the oil and it was slightly over the full mark.

You mean some can't most do. I'm not going to sell my Trax because of an incident one cold morning in January, I'm not that rich.

There is a bulletin where they replace the harness to insert a PCV heater, was this done to yours and it still had the problem?

Puting LED Dome light bulb in my 2016 made it so my remote locks didn't work right. This was fixed by using a Name brand LED ( Philips ) The ebay LED lights still work well with the 3 map lights though
This is because some LEDs use a buck type supply that actually emits RFI when dropping 12 volts to 3.1V-3.4 V for the LEDs, sometimes the oscillator frequency will be close to 315MHz or a Harmonic. This actually jams the RKE module. This can also affect TPMS where the module will lose programming. The module sits about 4 inches from the dome light driver's side glued to the headliner. Here is a picture, circled is the hole for the dome light. Part # for the module is GM 13503205.

If you do get an LED make sure it has a passive circuit with LEDs in series with a regulator or resistor.

Yes, behind the card tray on the left of the steering wheel.

Just had my first "CEL" with my Trax at 50000Kms. P0301

I had noticed the pass couple of days that it would sometime sputter. First thought was bad gas. Removed the ignition coil pack to find cylinder 1 coil had fallen apart with a lot of green corrosion on one end of the spring. Two other coils on the assembly look fine, the forth beginning with green stuff. Must be a defect I can't see it having this much corrosion in so little time. I will be getting a new one tomorrow and I'll take pictures if I can remember.

Okay got the new coil assembly $195 Cdn.

Proceeded to take it apart again since I had slapped it back together to move it around.

2 T27 Torx screws hold the coil assembly in place. To remove the connector you must first pull the pink locking tab before you can press down on the retaining tab. Cylinder 1 & 4 boots stayed in the spark plug tunnels. Cylinder 1 even had a piece of the coil pack also stuck in there. It actually broke off.

You can also see the top of the spark plug where it pitted the tip.

Here is the badly corroded coil contact from cylinder one.

Here is cylinder 4 starting to corrode.

The 2 middle cylinder were clean.

Here are the coil contacts, the 2 middle ones look new and the outside ones are trash.

Improvised spark plug tunnel vacuum.

Here is a picture of the old pack with cylinder tube broken off. I was careful to pull it straight up.

Mine is a 2016. Just to add to this subject you can can buy the ignition coil way cheaper at rockauto.com if you can wait for delivery I would have saved $100Cdn on the exact same ACDelco D521C. But mine was misfiring badly and I couldn't or wouldn't wait to replace it. Didn't really want to load the cat with raw fuel and chance other damage.

It is probably the turbo oil feed tube if it's leaking oil, I believe there is a bulletin on this or maybe even a recall. Mine has the new revised version already on it. It has double seals at the engine while original only had one seal. This engine is not trash but it has had growing pains dealing with the north american environment and corrosion from road salt they put on the roads. No road salts in Korea!!!

Understand that the engine braking power of a 1.4l is far inferior than the 2.0l of the KIA Soul. Plus your Trax's engine being a 1002 years old is probably wore-out.>:D
